How to Create Your Own Spiral Bound Children's Book

If you have a creative flair, write a children's book and bind it to make it more professional looking. Getting it bound will also help keep it protected. Spiral binding made of heavy-duty plastic allows the book to lie flat while open and lets the reader fold the pages back while reading them without damaging the book.Read your newly bound book to your own kids or read it in the classroom.

Instructions

    • 1

Write the book in your favorite word processing or publishing program. Remember the books that you read as a child, the lessons you learned, and the characters you liked when writing out your story.

    • 2

Integrate the words with pictures that you created yourself or by using free, legal clip art.

    • 3

Ask someone to proofread your book and ask him for suggestions. Make any changes that need to be made.

    • 4

Save the book in a universal program like Adobe Reader. This will create a PDF file. Save it onto a flash drive or other portable drive.

    • 5

Take the drive into a print center to have it printed. Ask the print center to print your document like a book, printing on both sides of the paper. Ask for a sample print to make sure everything is correct.

    • 6

Have the print center print your book on a heavier paper like a card stock or cover stock.

    • 7

Choose a clear cover for your book and and backing piece, like a heavy card stock or vinyl backing. Choose which color spiral binding you would like and have the book bound for you at the print center.
