Devante Swing, a member of the R&B group Jodeci, did not own all of the group's publishing. Jodeci signed a joint publishing deal with MCA Music Publishing and EMI Music Publishing in 1991, which gave the labels a share of the royalties generated by the group's songs. Devante Swing and his fellow Jodeci members retained a portion of the publishing rights, but they did not own all of them.
