James Thurber Watson was an American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Richmond in 1902, compiling a record of 2–1–2.

He is not to be confused with Thomas J. Watson, who was the head football coach at Wesleyan University from 1893 to 1896 and the University of Georgia from 1897 to 1900.
