Who is the father of pharmacology?

The father of pharmacology is considered to be Pedanius Dioscorides, a Greek physician, pharmacologist, and botanist who lived in the 1st century AD. He is best known for writing De Materia Medica, an encyclopedia of medicinal plants and their therapeutic uses, which became the standard reference for pharmacologists and physicians for over 1,500 years. It contains descriptions of over 600 plants, minerals, and animal products used for medicinal purposes, along with their pharmacological properties and therapeutic applications. Dioscorides was the first to classify drugs according to their therapeutic properties, such as laxatives, emetics, and analgesics, and his work greatly influenced the development of pharmacology as a science.
