How to Sell Your Books at Barnes & Noble

If you have extra textbooks lying around that are in good condition, you may be able to make some extra money by selling your books. Barnes & Noble will buy your used textbooks if you have at least $10 worth. The books you want to sell must be in good repair, without stains, ripped or missing pages, underlining or highlighted text or other damage. As a plus, Barnes & Noble will send you a postage-paid return label so you can ship your books directly to them.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to www.barnesandnoble.com, and click on "Textbooks" in the top left section of the site, in the menu bar. Click on "Sell Your Used Textbooks" under the "Textbooks" button.

    • 2

Enter the ISBN number (a 10- to 13-digit number located on the back of your book) for each book you are selling in the ISBN box displayed on the page. If you have more than one book, separate each ISBN number with a comma.

    • 3

Click on "Get A Quote." Now you should see how much Barnes & Noble is offering to pay in exchange for your books. If you agree with the price shown, confirm and enter your name and mailing address, and be sure that the correct information is displayed.

    • 4

Print out the return mailing label that is displayed on the "Receipts" screen. Cut it out so that it can be affixed to your package of books.

    • 5

Affix the return mailing label to an empty box or padded packaging that you will be shipping the textbooks in. Put all the books in the box or package, but do not seal it.

    • 6

Print a copy of your e-mail confirmation to be enclosed with your package of books. Place the e-mail confirmation inside the box, seal and drop the package off at the nearest post office.

    • 7

Wait for your payment. You will receive your check within two to three weeks from the time Barnes & Noble receives your package of books.
