Early life and education
Miles was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and raised in Woodbury, Minnesota. She is of African-American descent. She attended Woodbury High School, where she was active in track and field, basketball, and volleyball. She graduated from high school in 2016 and went on to attend the University of Minnesota, where she studied communications and marketing.
Pageantry
Miles began competing in pageants in 2016, when she was crowned Miss Woodbury Teen USA. She went on to compete in the Miss Minnesota Teen USA pageant, where she placed in the Top 10. In 2018, she was crowned Miss University of Minnesota USA. She competed at the Miss Minnesota USA pageant in 2019 and 2020, and finally won the title in 2020.
As Miss Minnesota USA, Miles represented Minnesota at the Miss USA 2020 pageant, which was held on November 9, 2020, at the River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She advanced to the Top 10, where she was eliminated.
Activism
Miles is an active advocate for mental health awareness and social justice. She has spoken out about her own experiences with mental health issues, and she has worked with organizations such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and the Jed Foundation to raise awareness and provide support to those struggling with mental health challenges. She is also passionate about social justice and has spoken out against racism and discrimination.
Personal life
Miles is a model signed with Wilhelmina Models in Minneapolis. She is also an entrepreneur and owns her own clothing line, Mikayla Miles Collection. She is a big fan of playing basketball and watching movies.
