Who was William role model and why?

Nelson Mandela

William has often cited Nelson Mandela as his role model. He admires Mandela's courage, resilience, and ability to forgive. Mandela spent 27 years in prison for fighting against apartheid in South Africa, but he never gave up on his dream of a free and equal society. He emerged from prison with the same humility and compassion he had before, and he went on to become the first black president of South Africa.

William has also been inspired by Mandela's commitment to service. He believes that everyone has a responsibility to help others, and he tries to live his life by that principle. He has worked with a number of charities over the years, and he is particularly passionate about helping young people.

In 2018, William and Kate visited South Africa with their children, George and Charlotte. They met with Mandela's widow, Graça Machel, and they visited Robben Island, where Mandela was imprisoned. William said that the trip was a "humbling experience" and that he was "deeply moved" by Mandela's legacy.

William is not the only royal to be inspired by Mandela. His father, Prince Charles, has also spoken about his admiration for Mandela. In 1997, Charles gave a speech in South Africa in which he said, "Nelson Mandela has shown us that it is possible to be both a prisoner and a free man. He has given hope to millions of people, not only in South Africa, but throughout the world."

Mandela's legacy continues to inspire people around the world. He is a reminder that even in the darkest of times, we should never give up hope.
