How is Frankenstein not the monster?

The monster in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is the creature created by Victor Frankenstein, the scientist, using body parts harvested from corpses and scientific equipment.. Although, it is often mistaken to be Frankenstein himself; the real name of this creation remains unnamed for most of the book, the name Frankenstein refers only to his creator or Victor's family name.
