Why is the scorpion king called SCORPION king?

In the fictional movie *The Mummy Returns*, the "Scorpion King" is an ancient ruler said to have been gifted a magical talisman capable of controlling the sand forces of the desert. At one point in the movie, the character is impaled by a giant scorpion's tail, killing him. Hence the name "Scorpion" King.
