Making Copper Patina Art

A patina is a surface coating on metal brought on by exposure to the air and other elements over years. Because of the artistic nature of some patinas, some people want to speed up the oxidation process through chemical baths. Copper patinas can vary in color from purple or black to light yellow. However, the most well-known patinas for copper are green. This hot process oxide bath will give your copper art an antique-looking green patina. All fabrication, design and texturing should be completed before the patina is added.
