Who built the hanging gardens of Babylon for their homesick wife?

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were built by King Nebuchadnezzar II for his wife, Queen Amytis.

While the gardens are considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, there's debate about their actual existence and location. Some historians believe they were more of a myth or a highly embellished description of a more modest structure.

Regardless, the legend of the Hanging Gardens tells the story of a homesick Queen Amytis, who longed for the lush greenery of her homeland, Media. To make her happy, Nebuchadnezzar II built a magnificent garden complex that featured tiered terraces adorned with exotic plants and trees, creating a magnificent oasis in the desert.
