What religion was King David?

King David was a Hebrew and followed the religion of the Israelites, which is what we now call Judaism.

He is considered a pivotal figure in Jewish tradition, and his life and reign are documented in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament).

Here's why:

* Founder of the Davidic dynasty: David established the kingdom of Israel, and his lineage continued through his son Solomon and subsequent kings. This line is central to Jewish history and belief.

* Chosen by God: According to the Hebrew Bible, David was chosen by God to be king and to build a temple in Jerusalem.

* Author of Psalms: Many of the Psalms in the Hebrew Bible are attributed to David, demonstrating his deep devotion to God.

While David's life story is complex and sometimes controversial, his role as a central figure in Jewish history and faith is undeniable.
