What kind of rock or mineral is Mount Kilimanjaro made out of?

Mount Kilimanjaro is primarily composed of volcanic rocks, specifically basalt and trachyte.

* Basalt: This is a dark-colored, fine-grained volcanic rock that makes up the lower slopes and most of the base of the mountain.

* Trachyte: This is a lighter-colored, fine-grained volcanic rock that is found at higher elevations, including the summit of Kibo, the highest peak of Kilimanjaro.

It's worth noting that Kilimanjaro is actually a stratovolcano, meaning it was formed by multiple eruptions over time, layering these volcanic rocks on top of each other.
