What is body structure of scorpion?

The body of a scorpion is divided into two main parts: the cephalothorax and the abdomen.

Cephalothorax:

- The cephalothorax is the anterior portion of the scorpion's body and is covered by a hard exoskeleton.

- It consists of the head and the thorax.

- The head is where the scorpion's brain, eyes, and mouth are located.

- Scorpions have two compound eyes, which provide them with a wide field of vision, and several simple eyes, which help them detect light and dark.

- The mouth has a pair of chelicerae (pincers) that are used to grasp and crush prey.

- Behind the chelicerae are a pair of pedipalps, which are modified limbs that are used for capturing prey, defense, and sensory functions.

- The pedipalps end in a pair of claws that can inject venom.

- The thorax is made up of the first six body segments and bears four pairs of walking legs.

Abdomen:

- The abdomen is the posterior portion of the scorpion's body and consists of 12 segments.

- The first seven segments are wide and plate-like, while the last five segments are narrower and more flexible.

- The telson, which is the tail, is the most terminal segment of the abdomen and is where the scorpion's stinger is located.

- The stinger is used to inject venom into prey and for defense.
