What is pop starting?

Pop starting, also known as push starting, is a method of starting an engine by manually turning the crankshaft (usually by means of a key switch in an automobile), or, alternatively, in the case of certain motorcycles, turning the clutch. The procedure may involve engaging a starter clutch or starter gear with the engine crankshaft via the appropriate lever.
