What color is clay?

The color of clay can vary widely depending on its chemical composition and impurities. Clay minerals themselves are typically white or light gray, but when other elements and compounds are present, they can produce a wide range of colors including red, brown, yellow, orange, gray, black, and even blueish shades. The most common colors of clay, however, are red, brown, and gray.
