Some of the nation's finest floral colleges have trained thousands of floral designers worldwide in subjects ranging from basic floral design to advertising to running a profitable flower business. These florist schools provide intense, short-term classes so designers can resume business as usual without taking off too much time.
  1. Phil Rulloda School of Floral Design

    • This licensed Anaheim, California-based floral design school offers classes 10 months out of the year and accepts students from anywhere in the world. They offer a place to stay for out-of-town students, and offer two-week classes to avoid missing too much work. Their classes include beginner, intermediate and advanced levels in floral design, weddings, events/decor, novelty, hand-tied boutique, holiday and more.

    Rittners School of Floral Design

    • Located in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood, Rittners offers intense, short-term courses or once-per-week, long-term courses. They say they'll even help you find a job once you graduate from their program.

    Palmer School of Floral Design

    • This Fort Collins, Colorado-based floral program is made up of four 25-hour courses that include Beginner's Floral Design 101, Basic Floral Design 102, Basic Floral Design 103 and Advanced Floral Design 104. These classes, according to the website, cover a wide range of floral principles. Classes are small--about 15 students--so each student receives the attention and guidance she needs to become an exceptional floral designer.

    Houston School of Floral Design

    • Located in the heart of Houston, Texas, Houston School of Floral Design has been turning students into exceptional floral designers for 30 years, according to their website. The licensed school offers six certificate courses, covering dozens of topics, from basic floral design to weddings and beyond. Courses run all year long to meet the scheduling needs of its students.

    Milwaukee School of Flower Design

    • Located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Milwaukee School of Flower Design is the only floral design school approved by the Design Schools of America, and has been featured on The Learning Channel and visited by Martha Stewart Living and Chicago Social Magazine. The school offers an eight-week program in floral design that covers a range of topics about the industry.
