Student Grants for Artists

Making ends meet as a student artist can be difficult, particularly when you need money to purchase expensive supplies. Many organizations award grants to individual artists based on need and demonstrated merit. Applicants usually have to submit a portfolio of work in their application for grant money. Many organizations have specific eligibility criteria for grant consideration; for example, many state and regional arts associations will only consider local residents. For a complete listing of cash grants and student scholarships, consult NYFA Source at the New York Foundation for the Arts website. For a useful listing of regional grants, consult the Cranbrook Academy of Art’s list of regional grants for individual artists.
