Studio Tours in Vancouver

The largest metropolitan area in Western Canada, Vancouver is a premier destination for those who enjoy a city teeming with arts and culture. Spearheaded by The Vancouver Art Gallery--which has a permanent collection of almost 10,000 pieces--and the Vancouver School of Conceptual Photography, there is no shortage of studios for visitors to tour and take in what's happening on the present art scene.
  1. Drift Art Tour

    • The self-guided Drift Art Tour highlights local Vancouver artists who work in all forms of media: paintings, drawings, mixed media, clay, film, textiles, photography, glass and fashion. Stroll along Vancouver's Main Street and Mount Pleasant area visiting 65 shops, cafés and galleries featuring the work of over 85 artists.

      The Drift Art Tour is in its seventh year. A weekend-long party, the tour includes many restaurants that offer tasting menus and afternoon tea for participants.

    Art Studio Tours

    • Featuring tours with guides from the Vancouver Art Gallery, this prestigious series offers visits to local artist studios where visitors have the opportunity to observe local artists and engage in discussion about their artistic process.

      In this tour you have the opportunity to see the artists at work and gain a greater understanding of how and why they create. All visits are followed by a no-host luncheon at a local restaurant. The cost per visit is $20 for AVAG members and $25 for non-members as of fall 2010.

    Twisted Fibre Studio Tour

    • Common Threads, the Twisted Fibre Studio Tour is a self-guided walking tour of three fiber art studios. Featuring work from fiber artists Julie Pongrac, Michelle Sirois-Silver and Judy Villett, the tour is in the Commercial Drive and Strathcona neighborhoods of Vancouver.

      Visitors will enjoy viewing a selection of completed works, works in progress, creative practices, engaging demonstrations, and the opportunity to purchase gallery-quality fine crafts. The artists are available to discuss their work and craft.

    Harmony Arts Studio Tours

    • The annual summer Harmony Arts Studio Tours in West Vancouver allow visitors to observe artists at work in their own creative environments. A self-guided tour from Lonsdale to Lions Bay, you'll enjoy Vancouver North Shore's natural beauty, while visiting informal art studios to receive personalized tours from the artists, discuss their work and learn about their craft.
