Digital Art Associations

Digial art is created using digital tools, be it a camera, computer or any other digital device to bring the piece to life. Digital art associations and organizations look to foster this developing art form by providing support, classes and exposure for those artists working with digital media.
  1. The CG Society

    • The CG Society is an organization dedicated to those who practice in the digital arts. CG Society provides support, forums and workshops covering many aspects of digital art including film, animation, games and concept design. The society has classes that connect students with experts in the field. A membership to CG Society allows the member discount access to workshops and the tools to build an art portfolio website. The cost of membership as of 2011 is $49.95.

    International Digital Media & Arts Association

    • iDMAa is an organization that works to help universities and colleges create new programs for digital artists. The programs combine many other subjects such as art, computer science and journalism. The digital artist combines all these disciplines when creating works. iDMAa helps schools develop courses and content to combine these aspects into classes that can help developing digital artists. Memberships to iDMAa are available for both non-profit and for-profit organizations along with individuals and students. Benefits include discounted rates to annual conferences, and access to art competitions and voting rights to those competitions. As of 2011, membership costs range from $495 to $1,000 for businesses, and $35 to $125 for students and individuals.

    Art Association of Jackson Hole

    • The Art Association of Jackson Hole is dedicated to all the arts, including digital arts. The association offers classes in digital photography and Internet-related arts. Artists may also submit their artwork to the association to be included in the annual art fair held each summer in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Benefits of membership include class discounts, a subscription to Splash! magazine and discounts on merchandise from the site. As of 2011, an individual membership costs $35.

    The College Art Association

    • The College Art Association is also dedicated to all forms of art. The association looks to bring professionals together to help support and develop networks, and provide opportunities for members and artists. A membership to the College Art Association allows multiple subscriptions to journals and magazines including The Art Bulletin and The Art Journal. Members also get access to career services such as interviewing tips and online job boards. As of 2011, membership costs $220 per year for an individual.
