Rosary beads are prayer necklaces that are often wrapped several times around a person's wrist. However, you can choose to portray a tattoo design of rosary beads wrapped around your ankle and flowing out onto the top of your foot. The head of the necklace typically has a crucifix to signify the Christian faith, but you can always swap out the cross for a religious symbol of your choosing, such as a miniature Buddha, Islamic crescent moon or Jewish star of David.
Hermes was a Greek god and messenger for Zeus. Consequently, he was depicted as having wings on his feet to denote quickness and speed. If you are an athlete or runner, consider tattooing wings on either side of your feet to symbolize the same thing. Also, flames on your foot, wrapping up toward your ankles, can signify an athletic prowess. This is a good example of a tattoo that may work better in color to portray the vibrancy of the fire.
Scripted tattoos can be one word or several sentences and have almost any significance or meaning. You can choose from a variety of different fonts and styles for a scripted tattoo, but the limited space on the top of your foot should be taken into account when deciding, as larger fonts typically require more space to display adequately. The script can also be something that simply correlates to feet or footwear, such as "Made for Walking" or "Don't Fail Me Now."
Not all tattoos need to carry deep or serious meaning. If it suits your personality, you may consider a comical foot tattoo such as laces strapped up the top of your foot to imitate shoelaces and ending in a bow just beneath your ankle line, or a scaled-down ruler to represent a "foot." A spider web on the top of your foot can jokingly refer to a "webbed foot" or a bear to symbolize your "bare foot."
