Hockey Tattoo Ideas

All tattoos should have a deep and personal meaning to the person wearing them. If you are an player or an avid hockey fan who lives or dies by your team's record, then there are several tattoo ideas that can help you display your passion to the world. First, figure out where you want the tattoo. This will dictate the appropriate size and shape of the design. Other considerations for the design include color and style.
  1. Portrait

    • Portrait tattoos are life-like renderings that resemble a photo or pencil sketch. Consider tattooing the portrait of either your favorite hockey player, recent or past, or tattoo the portrait of the person who introduced you to the game, wearing a hockey jersey or other hockey paraphernalia. For instance, your father holding a hockey stick would make a solid portrait. Traditionally, portraits are black and gray, but you can choose to incorporate color if you wish.

    Name or Mascot

    • Perhaps the most straightforward way of showing not only your passion for hockey but also for a particular team is to tattoo that team's name or mascot. Consider using the same font that the team uses for their name and strongly consider incorporating the same colors as the team. Also, if you really want to embrace this idea, tattoo both the name and the mascot over your heart or on your upper arm, as though the team is your heart and you're wearing it on your sleeve.

    Hockey Items

    • Hockey requires a variety of equipment, especially when played at the professional level. Some of the more common items are sticks, pucks, masks, skates and an assortment of pads. Any one of these items can make a deep and personal tattoo, either on its own or mixed in with others. If you want all the hockey equipment tattooed, but no discernible player, consider the ghost player, which is basically all the equipment put together as though being worn, but with no head, hands or neck.

    Hockey Script

    • A hockey script tattoo can be anything from a player quote to a slogan or motto of a team. You can choose from a variety of fonts and style types, however please note, the more detail in the font, the larger the tattoo must be to display adequately. The font itself can have hockey overtones, such as incorporating a hockey stick into the first letter of the word, provided it has a straight edge.
