Paint a scene or object, or sketch a scene or object with colored pencils or charcoal on paper. The setting can be anything from a meadow landscape to an urban sidewalk, the object anything from a simple coffee cup to a complex vine.
If you are painting, allow the paint to dry before proceeding.
Write a portion or a full poem directly onto the painting or sketch. The execution can be as subtle as a pencil-written sentence in the corner of the page or as bold as painting the words to cover part of the image.
Take a picture of a scene or object of your choice using a digital camera.
Upload the photo to your computer and open it in a photo editing program.
Touch up any flaws in the photo such as redeye and crop to suit.
Apply various filters and effects to the image if desired.
Click the photo editing software's text box function.
Drag and drop the size of your text box over your image. Using a segment of poetry rather than a full poem will make the text more manageable and easier to read.
Change the font and color of the text as desired. Choosing a color that matches the image will subtly blend the poetry in the art, and choosing a color that contrasts will highlight the text in the art.
