Set the angle on the table saw to 45 degrees. Center the width of the 2-by-4 on the blade; take into account the thickness of the blade itself.
Turn on the table saw and cut the board in half lengthwise. Turn off the saw when finished.
Measure and mark on the wood the appropriate lengths you need for each side of the canvas.
Use the hand saw to cut at a 90-degree angle where you made each mark and discard any extra pieces of wood.
Change the angle on the hand saw to 45 degrees to the right. Cut the right corner of each remaining bar at a 45-degree angle.
Change the angle on the hand saw to 45 degrees to the left. Cut off the left corners of the last bars.
