How to Use a Chalking Set

One of the best things about making a scrapbook is adding your own personal taste and touches to the pages. Chalking sets, or small cases that contain a variety of reusable acid-free colored chalks, can be a fun alternative to pens and markers when it comes to decorating your scrapbook. Not only can you create your own unique background pages with different colored chalks, but you can also color in stencils and enhance your embellishments in order to create both a more professional and customized scrapbook.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill your foam applicator with the first color of chalk that you will be using on your cardstock.

    • 2

Swipe the foam applicator on a piece of smooth and untextured scrap paper in circular motions. This will remove loose chalk from the foam applicator and even out the color before you begin using it on your cardstock.

    • 3

Apply the foam applicator to your cardstock. Use light pressure when you first apply the chalk to your cardstock in order to avoid colors that are darker than you desire.

    • 4

Use a new foam applicator for every color of chalk that you use on your cardstock to keep the colors pure and bright.

    • 5

Wipe loose chalk gently off of your completed cardstock with a clean cotton ball.

    • 6

Spray your completed cardstock with an acid-free fixative in order to reduce the chance of chalk smudges. Spray the fixative across and above your cardstock. Do not spray the fixative directly on your cardstock.
