A tongatong is a small, handheld Philippine drum that is traditionally made from bamboo. It consists of a barrel-shaped body with a goatskin head stretched across one end. The other end is open and is used as the striking surface. The tongatong is played by holding it in one hand and striking the goatskin head with the other hand. It is often used as an accompaniment to singing and dancing, and is also used in traditional Filipino folk music.
